"The shadowy online collective Anonymous said Friday that it had shut down a computer server at the Australian Security Intelligence Organisation (ASIO), the country's spy agency. A spokesperson confirmed that the organization's public website, which went down for 30 minutes on Friday morning, had faced "technical issues," but that no classified information had been stolen. In recent days, Twitter accounts associated with Anonymous have described attacked on the ASIO and the Defence Signals Directorate (DSD). Its "Operation Australia" arm said it plans to stop the attacks, referred to as #TangoDown, at 10pm tonight."

"I was recently asked whether the newly announced Council of Australian Government review of counter-terrorism laws, and the inquiry that resulted in Anonymous attacks on ASIO and DSD websites, were the same thing. They aren’t, but the three different national security inquiries currently happening can be easily confused."
